On April 18, 2023, Blake Mohs, a 26-year-old loss prevention employee at a Home Depot store in Pleasanton, California, was fatally shot while attempting to prevent a theft. The incident occurred in the afternoon when Mohs confronted a female suspect who was attempting to steal a phone charger. During the confrontation, the suspect produced a firearm and shot Mohs.
