On July 18, 2017, Leroy Moore, age 70, was fatally shot in Chicago's Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood. Leroy was walking out of a store near 71st and State when he was struck by gunfire. The shooting took place at around 8:20 p.m., and Moore was shot in the chest. Despite efforts to address the rising crime rates in Chicago, the city continued to see incidents like this, particularly affecting vulnerable populations such as the elderly.
