On August 11, 2023, 19-year-old Erica Flagg was found deceased from a gunshot wound to the head in a residence on the 7000 block of Bonsallo Avenue in South Los Angeles. Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a shooting report at approximately 9:35 p.m., and formal pronouncement of death was made at 9:53 p.m.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office classified her death as a homicide.
Erica was born on January 7, 2004, and was cremated following her passing.
In the aftermath of this tragic event, Erica's family sought support through fundraising efforts to cover funeral expenses. A GoFundMe campaign was organized by her uncle, Celten Carmouche, expressing the family's grief and the suddenness of the loss. Another fundraiser titled "Erica Flaggs Going Away" was managed by Ryan Culpepper, representing Erica's father's side of the family.
As of now, there have been no public reports of arrests or identification of suspects related to Erica's death. The Los Angeles Police Department has not released further information regarding the investigation. The case remains unsolved, leaving Erica's family and the community seeking justice for her untimely death.
