On October 6, 2023, at approximately 2:15 a.m., Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies responded to reports of gunfire in the 1500 block of West 105th Street, near Western Avenue, in an unincorporated area adjacent to Inglewood. Upon arrival, they discovered 49-year-old Idrissa Simpson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. Despite prompt medical attention, Simpson was pronounced dead at the scene.
