On October 16, 2023, at approximately 5:10 p.m., 47-year-old Nickolas Bonilla of Carson, California, was fatally shot in Wilmington, a neighborhood in Los Angeles. The incident occurred near Sanford Avenue and East M Street, where Bonilla and a 44-year-old male companion were socializing outdoors. A suspect approached them and fired multiple rounds, striking both men. Bonilla succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while the second victim was transported to a local hospital, where he later died.
