On December 31, 2023, at approximately 8:00 p.m., 35-year-old Carlos Octaviano Bazante was fatally shot while driving near the intersection of East 14th and B Streets in Madera, California. Responding to reports of a car crash and gunfire, Madera police officers arrived to find Bazante's vehicle had collided, and he had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
