On January 19, 2024, at approximately 1:00 a.m., 40-year-old Carlos Beltran was found fatally shot near his running vehicle on Yucca Street, close to La Baig Avenue in Hollywood, Los Angeles. Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon and discovered Beltran lying in the roadway with a gunshot wound to the head. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
Beltran, known by his stage name "Carlitos Aka Chunk," was a security guard and aspiring musician with a passion for hip-hop and rap. He had been working in the Studio City and Burbank areas and was living with his family in Encino. On the night of his death, Beltran's work shift was canceled, and he reportedly went to Hollywood to meet a friend regarding his music.
