On May 29, 2024, at approximately 1:25 p.m., 45-year-old Peleson "PJ" Johnson was fatally shot in the upper body while standing in an alley near the 1800 block of Gardenia Avenue in Long Beach, California.
The suspect, described as a male adult, approached Johnson on foot, discharged a firearm, and fled the scene before officers arrived. Despite immediate medical attention and life-saving measures by responding officers and Long Beach Fire Department personnel, Johnson was transported
to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and the suspect remains unidentified. The motive for the shooting is still under investigation. Homicide detectives are actively seeking information from the public to aid in solving this case.
