On June 8, 2024, the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office conducted a welfare check at a residence on East Mettler Road in Lodi, California, after family members reported being unable to contact the occupants for over a week. Upon arrival, deputies discovered the bodies of 60-year-old Joe Pena, his wife, 69-year-old Kim Huynh, and their son, 45-year-old Alfred Nguyen. All three victims had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
