On August 25, 2024, 38-year-old Catalina Aceves was found deceased in her Yuba City, California apartment following a welfare check initiated by the Reno Police Department. This check was prompted after a man was discovered with a self-inflicted gunshot wound at a casino in Reno, Nevada. Authorities have linked the man's suicide to Aceves' death, treating the case as a murder-suicide.
