On October 27, 2024, 18-year-old Drake Myles Alfaro of Redding, California, was fatally shot at a large Halloween party in Bella Vista. The Shasta County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a gunshot victim around 1:10 a.m. at a residence in the 21000 block of Highway 299 East. Upon arrival, deputies discovered Alfaro deceased and five other adults suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot injuries; the injured individuals were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
