On a summer morning in North Versailles, Pennsylvania, the body of 37-year-old Daniel Adam Sloane was discovered in a parking lot off of Route 30. It was just after 7 a.m. on July 24, 2023, when officers were called to the 1700 block of Lincoln Highway. There, they found Sloane, a male resident of North Versailles, with fatal injuries from a gunshot.
The Allegheny County Office of the Medical Examiner pronounced him dead at the scene.
Daniel, who was born and raised in Pittsburgh, was the beloved son of Charles E. Sloane and Susan Jean Sloane. He was a graduate of Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Turfgrass Science, a field that led him to a successful career in the golf industry, where he rose to the position of Assistant Superintendent at the Fox Chapel Golf Club. For the last seven years of his life, he had transitioned to a career as a Financial Advisor and Accredited Portfolio Management Advisor, where he was a valued asset to his clients and colleagues.
A man of many passions, Daniel was known for his green thumb and the beautiful backyard oasis he created at his home. He found joy in landscaping, gardening, playing golf, snowboarding, and kayaking. He was also a history enthusiast with a collection of World War I artifacts that he enjoyed sharing with his father. Remembered as an excellent and deeply caring uncle, he was known for giving his niece and nephews 'over-the-top, completely age-inappropriate gifts and experiences,' which always brought them great delight. He was also a devoted animal lover, especially to his two Dachshunds, Charley and Manny.
The North Versailles police are investigating the circumstances surrounding Daniel Sloane's death. However, as of now, no information has been publicly released regarding any suspects or arrests in connection with his shooting. The investigation remains ongoing as his family, friends, and community mourn the loss of a man described as a tremendous asset to all who knew him.
