On August 18, 2023, 60-year-old Lori Annette Kane was found deceased in her residence on Baileys Chapel Road in Advance, North Carolina. Deputies from the Davie County Sheriff's Office responded to a welfare check at her home around 6:15 a.m. Upon arrival, they forced entry into the house and discovered Kane's body in the bedroom, the victim of an apparent gunshot wound. A weapon was recovered at the scene.
