On October 8, 2023, at approximately 4:15 p.m., a home invasion occurred at 106 Forest Circle in Aberdeen, North Carolina, resulting in the death of 23-year-old resident, TyNasha Amonie Collins. Upon arrival, deputies from the Moore County Sheriff's Office found Collins with a fatal gunshot wound. Investigations revealed that an exchange of gunfire took place between the intruders and the occupants of the home.
During the incident, 17-year-old Darius Nicholson of Richmond County, believed to be one of the perpetrators, was also shot. He was transported to Moore Regional Hospital by private vehicle, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Authorities suspect that the home invasion was drug-related, as significant quantities of controlled substances, including marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms, oxycodone, cocaine, and THC, along with numerous firearms, were seized from the residence.
The investigation led to multiple arrests. On October 10, law enforcement executed search warrants at three residences in Moore and Richmond counties, resulting in the apprehension of several individuals:
- **Trevell Semaj Wade**, 22, of Hamlet, charged with murder and held without bond.
- **Noah Edward Harrington**, 18, of Aberdeen, charged with accessory after the fact to murder, with a secured bond of $225,000.
- **Jaidon Rafael Lachin Stockey**, 21, of Aberdeen, charged with accessory after the fact to murder, with a secured bond of $225,000.
- **Shakeanma Takelia Hubbard**, 37, of Aberdeen, charged with accessory after the fact to murder, with a secured bond of $225,000.
- A 15-year-old juvenile from Aberdeen, taken into secure custody for accessory after the fact to murder.
Subsequent arrests included:
- **Dajwan Quintaj Monroe**, 21, of Hemingway, South Carolina, located at a hospital near Wilmington, where he was receiving treatment for a gunshot wound sustained during the home invasion. He was charged with murder and held without bond.
- **Cynthia Gay Ross**, 59, of Aberdeen, charged with felony conspiracy and maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances, with a secured bond of $95,000.
- **Christopher Kant Verbal**, 26, of Aberdeen, charged with multiple felonies, including possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver controlled substances, trafficking opium or heroin, and maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances, with a secured bond of $500,000.
Additionally, a 17-year-old from Southern Pines was taken into custody through the North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice on one count of murder. In total, ten individuals have been charged in connection with this incident.
