On January 8, 2024, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Forsyth County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a man lying at the intersection of Blue Bonnet Lane and Bridal Path in Clemmons, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 21-year-old Damilyon Raekwon Monroe with multiple gunshot wounds, including one to his abdomen. Deputies administered CPR until Forsyth County EMS arrived; however, Monroe succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Following an investigation, authorities arrested two 18-year-olds, Wiley Ywaskevic and Alexandra Patton, charging them with felony murder in connection with Monroe's death. Both suspects were taken into custody and held without bond at the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center. They appeared before a magistrate and were scheduled for a court appearance on January 10, 2024.
Sheriff Bobby F. Kimbrough expressed a sense of closure for Monroe's family, emphasizing the collaborative efforts of the community and law enforcement in Forsyth County. He stated, "We stand on the importance of being better, stronger, and safer together." The swift arrests provided some solace to the grieving family, though the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting remained ongoing.
Monroe, affectionately known as "Dolla," was born on September 13, 2003, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was survived by his parents, Tambra Parson and Donald Monroe, and a sister, Zamaria Monroe, among other family members and friends. A funeral service was held on January 20, 2024, at Solid Rock Baptist Church in High Point, North Carolina, where loved ones gathered to honor his memory.
