On June 4, 2024, at approximately 3:50 p.m., Belmont Police responded to a cardiac arrest call at The Chronicle Mill apartments on East Catawba Street in Belmont, North Carolina. Upon arrival, officers discovered two individuals—61-year-old Roseanne Hayes and 60-year-old Marshall Lee McRoberts—unconscious and not breathing. Gaston County paramedics pronounced both deceased at the scene.
