On April 12, 2023, 15-year-old Preston Gamble was fatally shot in Calverton, New York, during a dispute between two groups of teenagers and young adults. The altercation escalated from a fistfight to gunfire, resulting in Preston's death. He was transported by family members to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead, where he was pronounced dead.
