It was in Germany that she met her husband, Charles “Chuck” Gonio, who was serving in the United States Army. They married in Lockport, New York, in 1971 and eventually settled in Gouverneur.
For most of her professional life, Ute worked as a bookkeeper for various local businesses, including Rotundo Auto Sales and Dave Hampton Chrysler. She retired after nearly a quarter-century of service at Riverside Iron Works in Gouverneur. A few years prior to her passing, she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Her death was not the subject of any publicly reported police investigation, and there is no information available regarding any arrests or suspects in connection with her passing.
