In the summer of 2023, a domestic dispute in Saint Ann, Missouri, escalated into a tragedy that claimed the lives of 30-year-old Seychelle Schaumburg Jackson and two of her children. The incident unfolded on the evening of July 3rd, when police responded to reports of a shooting at their home.
Inside the residence, officers discovered a devastating scene. Seychelle, along with her 14-year-old son Kyrien Stevenson and 5-year-old daughter Ushara Schaumburg, had been fatally shot. A fourth victim, Seychelle's 9-year-old daughter, was found with a gunshot wound to her hand but had managed to escape to a neighbor's house to seek help.
The investigation identified Seychelle's boyfriend, 34-year-old Coleman C. McIlvain, as the suspect in the deadly shooting. Authorities determined that the violence erupted from an argument between the couple. McIlvain had wanted to take Seychelle's car, but she refused because he had been drinking. In the ensuing confrontation, McIlvain shot and killed Seychelle and her two children before turning the gun on himself.
When law enforcement entered the home, they found McIlvain still alive but with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. As the perpetrator died at the scene, no arrests were made in connection with the triple homicide. The sole survivor of the attack, Seychelle's 9-year-old daughter, was treated for her injuries and has since been placed in the care of family members.
