Eric Alan Whittington was 50, a man whose life ended in the first minutes after midnight on May 30, 2024, at a house on Freddy Lane in rural Newton County, south of Joplin and near Seneca. Deputies responding to a shooting call found him outside on the ground, already dead, as detectives began piecing together what happened in the cramped, chaotic moments that spilled from the home to the yard.
