In the early morning hours of a Sunday in late October 2013, the body of a man was discovered on a sidewalk in southwest Atlanta. The man was identified as Marcus Farmer, a 49-year-old resident of the city. He had sustained a gunshot wound to the head.
Atlanta police and the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office were called to the scene in the 1500 block of Olympian Way.
Homicide detectives spent several hours at the location, commencing an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Farmer's death.
