In a quiet Linden, New Jersey neighborhood, the life of 13-year-old Natalie Nieroda was tragically cut short in a devastating act of violence. On the morning of Sunday, February 19, 2023, Natalie, her 14-year-old brother Sebastian Nieroda, and their 41-year-old mother Justyna Nieroda were fatally shot by their father, 41-year-old Krzysztof Nieroda, who then took his own life.
Police responded to the family's home on Chatham Place for a welfare check at approximately 9:30 a.m.
Upon arrival, they discovered a horrific scene. Natalie and her parents were pronounced dead at the scene. Sebastian was found with critical injuries and was rushed to University Hospital in Newark, but he tragically succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators determined that Krzysztof Nieroda was the sole perpetrator of the killings. Before turning the gun on himself, he contacted a family member and confessed to having shot his wife and children. When law enforcement entered the home, they found the murder weapon in his hand.
