In the late afternoon of a Friday in Egg Harbor City, New Jersey, a graduation party was underway at Beacon Hall, a local banquet facility. Outside, however, the celebratory atmosphere was shattered by the sound of gunfire. When the chaos subsided, 30-year-old Terrance Dismuke of Atlantic City, a male, lay wounded. First responders rushed to the scene on the 200 block of St. Louis Avenue shortly before 5 p.m. on June 16, 2023, and transported Dismuke to a nearby hospital. Despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into the fatal shooting quickly focused on a suspect. Witnesses at the scene reported seeing Dismuke near a blue Dodge Challenger just before the shot was fired. Dominique Woodall, a 27-year-old from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, was identified as the alleged driver and shooter. According to a passenger in the vehicle, Woodall had a firearm on his lap and shot Dismuke, who was standing on the passenger side of the car.
Following the shooting, the passengers exited the vehicle, and Woodall fled the scene alone.
A manhunt for Woodall ensued, and he was located and arrested in the early morning hours of June 20, 2023, in the nearby city of Pleasantville. He was taken into custody without incident and charged with murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon without a permit to carry. In August of 2023, an Atlantic County grand jury indicted Woodall on charges of first-degree murder and second-degree weapons offenses. He is currently being held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility awaiting the disposition of his case.
