On October 7, 2023, at approximately 4:15 p.m., New Milford police conducted a welfare check at a residence on Myrtle Avenue. Inside, they discovered the bodies of 80-year-old Giovanni "John" Emmolo and 56-year-old Marina Perez, both deceased from gunshot wounds.
