Obie Phillips, a 62-year-old man, was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting on October 8, 2014, in front of the JVC Grocery Store on McDaniel Street in Atlanta. Phillips, who was disabled and walked with a cane, was an unintended victim in the attack. Shots were fired from a blue car as it drove past. Phillips had been a regular at the store, and his family had urged him to move due to the increasing violence in the area. Police continue to investigate the motive behind the shooting.
