In the summer of 2016, a 40-year-old man named Tavarius Robinson was found deceased in a residence in southeast Atlanta. On June 8th, police responded to a 911 call reporting gunshots at a home on Lewis Road SE in the Norwood Manor neighborhood. Upon their arrival, they discovered the bodies of Robinson and another man, 38-year-old Dante Sutton. Both men had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the torso.
Investigators at the scene determined that neither of the victims appeared to have
fired a weapon. The home had not been ransacked, and there were no signs of forced entry, leading police to believe this was not a break-in. Authorities recovered a small quantity of narcotics and related materials, a firearm, some electronic equipment, five cell phones, and a small amount of cash from the residence. The suspected motive for the double homicide was robbery. A white car parked outside the home, which may have belonged to one of the victims, was towed from the scene as part of the investigation.
In the course of their investigation, police identified a person of interest. Surveillance footage from the home captured a woman at the residence approximately 30 minutes before the shooting occurred. Law enforcement released this information to the public in the hopes of identifying and speaking with her, clarifying that she was not considered a suspect in the killings.
Despite the initial investigation and the identification of a person of interest, there have been no publicly announced arrests in connection with the deaths of Tavarius Robinson and Dante Sutton. The case remains unsolved, and the individual or individuals responsible for their deaths have not been brought to justice. Police have encouraged anyone with information regarding the shooting to come forward.
