In the summer of 2023, the life of 22-year-old James “JJ” R. Griffin III was tragically cut short in a shooting that occurred in Roanoke, Virginia. A Black male, Griffin was known by friends and family for his infectious smile and was remembered as a loving young man with a promising future. He was a graduate of William Fleming High School and was studying sports medicine in college.
