On November 22, 2014, Demetrius Davis, a 22-year-old African American male, was fatally shot outside the JVC Grocery and Deli on McDaniel Street in southwest Atlanta. The incident occurred in the Castleberry Hill neighborhood, an area that had experienced a series of violent crimes in the months leading up to Davis's death.
