Jeyani Renee Upshur, a 15-year-old girl from Virginia Beach, tragically lost her life on May 25, 2024, in a shooting incident near the Mt. Trashmore carnival. The incident occurred just before 8:30 p.m. when gunfire erupted outside the carnival area. Upshur suffered a fatal gunshot wound to her head during the chaos.
