On July 1, 2015, Clarence Carter, a 26-year-old African-American male from Fairburn, Georgia, was fatally shot inside a southwest Atlanta nightclub. The incident occurred around 4 a.m. at the Blue Ivory Restaurant & Lounge, located on Whitehall Street. According to Atlanta police, the assailant approached Carter and shot him multiple times without any prior altercation or exchange of words.
