On a late August evening, a tragic event unfolded in Chesterfield County, Virginia, that would ultimately claim the life of a young woman. On Thursday, August 29, 2024, at approximately 9:15 p.m., police were dispatched to the 3700 block of Passage Way Drive in Chester following a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered 22-year-old Allison J. Tignor suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency medical services transported her to a local hospital for treatment of her critical injuries.
Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Allison J. Tignor, a resident of Henrico, succumbed to her injuries five days later, on September 3, 2024. The investigation into the shooting quickly led to a suspect who was known to the victim. In the early morning hours of August 30, authorities arrested 20-year-old Seth J. Branch in connection with the incident. It was later revealed that Branch and Tignor had been in a relationship.
Initially, Branch was charged with aggravated malicious wounding and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He was held at the Riverside Regional Jail without bond. Following Tignor's death, the legal proceedings against Branch advanced. On September 16, a grand jury indicted him on more severe charges: first-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a murder. He continues to be held without bond as the case moves through the justice system.
