On a September afternoon in Greenville County, South Carolina, the life of 46-year-old Michez Janita Fowler was tragically cut short. On September 9, 2024, authorities responded to reports of gunfire and a subsequent car crash in the Judson community. They arrived on Valentine Street to find a red Kia that had struck a fence. Outside the vehicle lay the body of Michez Fowler, who had sustained at least one gunshot wound.
Investigators soon pieced together the events of that fatal day,
determining that the incident was the result of a domestic dispute. Fowler had been driving the car with 58-year-old Michael Lewis Moore as a passenger. At some point during the drive, Moore allegedly shot Fowler, which caused the car to crash. In the immediate aftermath, Moore fled the scene on foot, leaving Fowler behind.
Law enforcement officials began their investigation and were able to identify Michael Lewis Moore as the suspect. He was later located at his residence on Honour Street, a short distance from the scene of the crime, and taken into custody. Moore was subsequently charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He was booked into the Greenville County Detention Center, where a judge denied him bond. In the days following his arrest for Fowler's murder, Moore faced further legal trouble as he was also charged with two counts of sexual abuse of a minor. The investigation into both the homicide and the additional charges is ongoing.
