On the morning of December 13, 2016, 26-year-old African American male Anthony J. Freeman was fatally shot during an attempted robbery outside the Blue Ivory nightclub in Atlanta, Georgia. Freeman and a friend had just exited the club and were sitting in their car in the 500 block of Whitehall Street when they were approached by an armed assailant.
