In an Atlanta home on a summer day in 2016, the lives of two men were brought to a violent and abrupt end. On June 8th, police were called to a residence on Lewis Road SE in the Norwood Manor neighborhood after a 911 caller reported the sound of gunshots. Inside, they discovered the bodies of 38-year-old Dante Sutton and 40-year-old Tavares Robinson.
Both men had suffered several gunshot wounds to the torso.
Investigators at the scene began to piece together the events that led to the double homicide. It did not appear that either man had shot the other, and the house had not been ransacked, nor were there signs of a forced entry. A white car, possibly belonging to one of the victims, was towed from outside the home. While the motive was not immediately clear, robbery was considered a strong possibility. Police recovered a small quantity of narcotics and related materials, a firearm, some electronic equipment, five cell phones, a Rossi. 38 revolver with six unspent cartridges, a DVR, and $70 in cash from the residence.
In the course of their investigation, authorities identified a woman as a person of interest. She was seen on the home's surveillance video approximately 30 minutes before the shooting occurred. However, police were clear to state that she was not considered a suspect in the killings. The shooter, or shooters, remained at large, leaving friends and family of Dante Sutton and Tavares Robinson to mourn their loss and await answers.
As of now, there have been no publicly announced arrests in the murders of Dante Sutton and Tavares Robinson. The case remains a painful and unresolved chapter for their loved ones. The initial flurry of investigation has since grown cold, with no new leads or suspects having been identified in the public record. The community is still without closure, and the individuals responsible for the deaths of the two men have not been brought to justice.
