On March 3, 2024, a tragic incident occurred at the Oasis Lounge, a nightclub located just north of West Point, Mississippi, on Highway 45 Alternate. Shortly after midnight, gunfire erupted inside the crowded venue, resulting in the death of 20-year-old Eron Taleese Chandler from Columbus, Mississippi.
