In the early hours of April 21, 2024, the community of Shubuta, Mississippi, was shaken by the violent death of 31-year-old Trey Clark. A Black male, Clark was fatally shot following an altercation at a residence on Waller Ridge Road shortly after 4:00 a.m. He was privately transported to Wayne General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead from a shotgun wound.
