On May 12, 2024, in Ridgeland, Mississippi, 56-year-old Vicky Renee Welch was tragically killed alongside her mother, 76-year-old Ida Thomas Welch, and her sister, 42-year-old Crystal Lynn Welch. The three women were found shot to death in their home on Old Canton Road after family members requested a welfare check. Crystal Welch was a notable figure, serving as an associate clinical professor at Mississippi College School of Law and as president of the ACLU of Mississippi's board of directors.
