On a tragic day in January 2023, 35-year-old Cindy Nicole Clouse, a female, was found deceased in her Fennville, Michigan, home alongside her two daughters, 13-year-old Autumn Hagger and 10-year-old Mackenzie Hagger. The grim discovery was made on Saturday, January 7, after a concerned family member went to check on them, having not heard from Cindy in over a day. Peering through a window, the relative saw one of the girls unresponsive in a bedroom and immediately called 911.
Upon their arrival, first responders from the Allegan County Sheriff's Office entered the residence to find a horrific scene. Cindy and her two daughters were deceased, all having suffered apparent gunshot wounds. Also found dead at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound was Cindy's long-term boyfriend and the father of her children, 34-year-old Roger Kyle Hagger. The subsequent investigation led authorities to conclude that the incident was a murder-suicide, with Roger Hagger as the perpetrator.
Further investigation by the Allegan County Sheriff's Office revealed a heart-wrenching motive behind the tragedy. It is believed that Cindy had been planning to leave Roger and was in the process of packing her and her children's belongings at the time of the killings. Sheriff Frank Baker stated that Cindy had reached out to a friend or coworker for assistance in leaving the relationship. Family members described Roger Hagger as 'controlling,' a side of him they were not fully aware of until it was too late.
