On May 23, 1980, Bennie Benson, aged 43, was found dead in Immokalee, Florida. The incident occurred after a house fire where deputies discovered two bodies inside. Upon further investigation, it was determined that both individuals, including Benson, had suffered head trauma, and it is believed that the fire was deliberately set to cover up the murders.
