In a quiet corner of South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the life of a 55-year-old Caucasian male named Alexander Stengel came to a tragic and violent end on February 5, 2024. Stengel, the manager of a local Pizza Hut, was found deceased in a garbage cart outside of his workplace, a discovery that sent ripples of shock through the community. The investigation into his death quickly shifted from a missing person's case to a homicide investigation.
The grim discovery was made on the morning of
February 7, 2024, when a garbage truck driver noticed something amiss in a dumpster behind the Pizza Hut. Inside a garbage cart, law enforcement found the body of Alexander Stengel. Investigators from the South Milwaukee Police Department, with assistance from the Wisconsin State Crime Lab, descended upon the scene. Evidence markers traced a path from the restaurant to the dumpster, and HAZMAT crews were seen entering and exiting the building. An autopsy later revealed that Stengel had died from a gunshot wound and puncture wounds to his neck and head.
The investigation pointed towards a motive of robbery. It was revealed that just before his death, Stengel had cashed an inheritance check and was believed to be carrying a substantial amount of cash, approximately $7,000, which he had shown to some of his employees. Suspicion soon fell upon one of his co-workers, 31-year-old Kavonn Ingram. Surveillance footage from the morning of February 5th showed a suspect struggling to drag the heavy garbage can from the Pizza Hut to the dumpster area. Investigators believe Stengel was killed inside the restaurant's kitchen before being placed in the garbage can. Further evidence indicated that the suspect, likely an employee familiar with the restaurant's systems, had clocked Stengel out of the computer system after the estimated time of the murder.
On February 11, 2024, the South Milwaukee Police Department announced the arrest of Kavonn Ingram in connection with the murder of Alexander Stengel. Ingram has since been charged with first-degree intentional homicide, hiding a corpse, armed robbery, and possession of a firearm by a felon. The charges brought a swift, albeit somber, development to a case that had unnerved the local community.
