In the small town of Freedom, Oklahoma, the morning of April 11, 2024, was shattered by a brutal act of violence that claimed the lives of two men, one of whom was 19-year-old Timothy Wilcox. Wilcox, a male, was found with multiple gunshot wounds inside a residence and later died on the front lawn as first responders attempted to save his life. The other victim was identified as 70-year-old Gary Bradt.
Investigators quickly determined that the deaths were the result of a double homicide.
What was initially believed to be a robbery soon revealed a more complex and sordid background. Court documents and further investigation linked the killings to a prostitution ring. It is believed that Wilcox was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time, an innocent victim caught in a deadly confrontation not of his making.
Within hours of the discovery, law enforcement apprehended three suspects approximately 28 miles south of Freedom. The individuals taken into custody were identified as Elijah Mann, Christopher Padilla, and a 17-year-old. The suspects were subsequently charged with multiple felonies, including first-degree murder with deliberate intent. It is alleged that one of the suspects owed the older victim money related to prostitution. The investigation also led to further arrests connected to the alleged prostitution ring.
