Jeremy Allen Wyatt, a 35-year-old man from Yakima, Washington, tragically lost his life on March 16, 2023, near Goldendale, Washington. Wyatt was one of two victims in a double homicide that occurred on Box Canyon Road north of Goldendale. The other victim was identified as Elisha Ann King, also 34 years old and from Yakima.
The case took a gruesome turn when authorities received information from an FBI Task Force in Yakima about a suspect possibly involved in burning two bodies on the
Yakama National Tribal Reservation near Toppenish, Washington. This led to an investigation that uncovered the double homicide in Klickitat County.
The primary suspect in the murders was identified as John Scott Raczykowski, a 31-year-old man from Rufus, Oregon. Raczykowski was considered armed and dangerous, prompting a multi-agency search effort. On April 10, 2023, after being on the run for several weeks, Raczykowski was apprehended by the Central Oregon Emergency Response Team during a brief standoff south of Madras, Jefferson County.
In addition to Raczykowski, another suspect was taken into custody. Larry Duane Kleven, a 57-year-old man from Goldendale, Washington, was arrested and charged with first-degree rendering criminal assistance and tampering with physical evidence. Kleven's involvement appeared to be in aiding the primary suspect rather than direct participation in the murders.
The arrest of Raczykowski brought some closure to the case, with the suspect facing two counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of Jeremy Allen Wyatt and Elisha Ann King. The successful apprehension was the result of collaborative efforts between multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Madras Police, Deschutes County Sheriff's Office K-9 team, and the CERT Team.
This tragic event shocked the communities of Yakima and Goldendale, leaving many questions about the circumstances that led to the violent deaths of Wyatt and King. As the legal process unfolds, it is hoped that justice will be served for the victims and their families.
