Elisha Ann King, a 34-year-old resident of Yakima, Washington, tragically lost her life on March 16, 2023, in Goldendale, Washington. She was one of two victims in a double homicide case that shocked the local community. The other victim was identified as Jeremy Allen Wyatt, 35, also from Yakima.
The investigation into their deaths began when the FBI Taskforce in Yakima alerted the Klickitat County Department of Emergency Management about a possible suspect involved in burning two bodies
on the Yakama Nation Tribal Reservation near Toppenish. Authorities soon identified two crime scenes: the homicide scene on Box Canyon Road north of Goldendale, where King and Wyatt were believed to have been murdered, and another location along Highway 97 on the Yakama Nation Tribal Reservation where their bodies were burned.
An autopsy revealed that both victims had been shot before their bodies were burned. The primary suspect in this case was identified as John Scott Raczykowski, a 29-year-old resident of Rufus, Oregon. Raczykowski was wanted on two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of King and Wyatt.
Law enforcement agencies launched an extensive search for Raczykowski, who was considered armed and dangerous. On April 9, 2023, nearly a month after the murders, Raczykowski was finally apprehended. Deputies received information that he was at an address off SE McTaggart Road in Jefferson County, Oregon. The Central Oregon Emergency Response Team was activated to assist in the operation. After a short standoff, Raczykowski was taken into custody in the early hours of April 9.
In addition to Raczykowski, another suspect, Larry Duane Kleven, 57, was arrested and charged with rendering criminal assistance in the first degree for the destruction of physical evidence. Kleven was taken into custody during a traffic stop in Goldendale on March 17, 2023.
The investigation involved multiple law enforcement agencies, including the FBI Seattle Office, FBI Yakima Office, Washington State Patrol Detective unit, and Crime Scene Response Team. The Sherman County Sheriff's Office, The Dalles Police Department SWAT Team, and the Mid-Columbia SWAT Team also assisted in the investigation.
While the motive for the killings has not been officially confirmed, Klickitat County Sheriff Bob Songer suggested that the murders might be drug-related. The case continues to be investigated as authorities work to bring justice for Elisha Ann King and Jeremy Allen Wyatt.
