On April 17, 2023, a tragic incident occurred in East Wenatchee, Washington, resulting in the death of 23-year-old Elias A. Mora-Ontiveros, a resident of Rock Island, WA. The events unfolded when a car driving down Grant Road flagged down a Douglas County Deputy early Monday morning. Upon approaching the vehicle, the deputy discovered Mora-Ontiveros, a male passenger, suffering from a gunshot wound.
