On the evening of September 7, 2023, Dan Spaeth, a 37-year-old Caucasian male from Snohomish, Washington, was shot and killed near his home on Machias Road. Spaeth, a correctional officer, was with his wife attempting to slow down traffic for deer that were crossing the road.
