On October 25, 2024, a tragic incident occurred in Mount Vernon, Washington, involving the death of Dvorah Carrasco, a 61-year-old mental health counselor at Skagit Behavioral Health. The Skagit County Coroner's Office determined that Carrasco died from multiple gunshot wounds, and her death was ruled a homicide.
