Eli Z. Wolfe, a 43-year-old resident of Goshen, Ohio, tragically lost his life on September 16, 2023. The incident occurred early in the morning at approximately 2:15 AM when police were called to a mobile home park on State Route 28 in response to reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers discovered Wolfe suffering from gunshot wounds and he was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the shooting, law enforcement quickly apprehended a suspect identified as Brian Scott Cansler, a 30-year-old man. Cansler was found near a nearby restaurant shortly after the incident and arrested after officers deployed a Taser to subdue him. He has since been charged with murder and appeared in court where his bond was set at $1 million. Investigators are still searching for the firearm used in the shooting and have conducted searches in local bodies of water using sonar technology to locate it.
