On August 14, 2024, 25-year-old Megan Elizabeth Keleman was fatally shot in a Taco Bell drive-thru on Graham Road in Stow, Ohio. The incident occurred around 7:20 p.m. when Jason Williams, 53, of Cuyahoga Falls, rear-ended Keleman's vehicle. Witnesses reported that Williams exited his SUV, approached Keleman's car, and shot her in the neck before turning the gun on himself. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigations revealed that Keleman and Williams did not know each other prior to the incident. Williams had a criminal history, including charges of operating a vehicle under the influence and improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle. He was released on bond in May 2024 with the condition of not possessing any firearms.
Keleman was a recent graduate of Cleveland State University, earning a bachelor's degree in finance and financial management services in 2022 and a Master of Business Administration in May 2024. She had recently begun working at Shelter Care, Inc., a residential treatment program for children with emotional or behavioral challenges.
In the wake of her tragic death, Keleman's family established a scholarship in her name to honor her legacy and support other students. The community held a candlelight vigil on August 18, 2024, at Stow City Hall to remember her life and contributions.
