In the late afternoon hours of July 7, 2023, a young Black man named Tymere Saideek Snead, 23, was fatally shot in a parking lot on the 300 block of West Sahara Avenue in Las Vegas. The incident occurred around 5 p.m. near the Gold and Beyond pawn shop, situated between the Allure Las Vegas Condos and the Golden Steer restaurant. First responders discovered Snead lying in the parking lot with a gunshot wound to his torso and transported him to University Medical Center, where he ultimately
succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into the shooting led Metro police to identify 19-year-old Robtravion Lee as the primary suspect. According to police reports, Lee and Snead were friends and alleged accomplices in a robbery that had taken place just a week prior, on June 30. The two were reportedly involved in the gunpoint robbery of a Christian Louboutin store in The Shops at Crystals, where approximately $20,000 worth of merchandise was stolen. Police suggested that the subsequent shooting of Snead may have been connected to this earlier crime.
Surveillance footage from the pawn shop parking lot reportedly captured the moments leading up to the fatal encounter. The video showed Lee meeting with Snead and speaking with him for a few minutes before Lee allegedly shot Snead and fled the scene. He was seen running west to Tam Drive, where he got into the back of a blue Dodge Magnum that then drove north. In a surprising turn, just a week after Snead's death, Lee posted a tribute to him on Instagram with the caption "Longlivemere" and broken-heart emojis, stating, "S--- don't feel real at all you forever wit me."
On July 28, Robtravion Lee was arrested and booked into the Clark County Detention Center on a charge of open murder. In addition to the murder charge, Lee is also facing charges of burglary with a deadly weapon, three counts of robbery with a deadly weapon, and conspiracy to commit robbery in connection with the Christian Louboutin heist. As of early August 2023, the case against him was proceeding through the Las Vegas Justice Court.
