On June 16, 2024, Michelle Berna, 37, of Sun Valley, Nevada, was fatally shot near Linden Street in Reno. Officers from the Reno Police Department responded to reports of gunfire around 5:30 a.m. and found Berna and another victim, Barry Vierra, 59, of Reno, both suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. They were transported to Renown Regional Medical Center, where they succumbed to their injuries shortly after arrival.
